That was precisely my reasoning, years ago, when we had slightly flaky backup power (if it failed a self-test, it would drop out long enough to kill everything on it!), and I remedied the situation by plugging one PSU directly into the wall.

It was quicker, easier, and more effective than screaming at APC about it.
