Hello James,

Would anybody happen to know off-hand how much current a "slim" 170 with 4 drives draws?

Are you asking specifically for current, or power dissipation? If the latter, I can give you an estimate. A 150 with four oldish half-height 6607 draws around 90 W, while an 800 (almost the same as a 270) draws around 170 with just one disk. I assume a 170 being in the middle, maybe 120, 130.

What about an E4A with 4 drives? I will note that while it has 2 power supplies, either one, by itself, is quite adequate to keep the machine up.

Yes, because the two supplies are for redundancy. One big PSU is cheaper than two ones, if it were just for providing adequate power support.

I've measured an E4A drawing ca. 400 Watts with all 8 disk slots filled. Can't recall CPU details.

:wq! PoC
