Hi John

I came up with a process maybe 12 years ago that lets you be very much in control. Basically you take an existing model, unzip it and find the sheet and other XMLs that it is composed of. Then make a template for use with CGIDEV2, then compress everything in the package into the XLSX file - the latter is actually a PKZIP kind of file.

I have a presentation, plus a lab, if you'd like to take a look. To a certain degree, you can do anything that Excel does, some stuff needs more effort.
