There is a utility written by Beppe Costgliola - here is one link to an 
article he wrote not too long ago -

It has a reference to a startup of his tool. We used an earlier version 
for some things, he has you pass a SELECT statement in a command that 
goes to a Java class - it's easier than the thing I came up with, and 
now it does the latest XLSX format - might use POI underneath, but check 
out the articles.
