The IBM SMTP server is not equipped to handle newer authentication methods
for SMTP.

With Google and MS moving away from user/pw authentication I can imagine
Amazon doing the same. They all eventually follow suit.

I personally think your best solution if you don't want to change anything
except the mail router in CHGSMTPA is find an app for a PC or linux box
that can proxy between your IBM i and the SMTP endpoint so you can point
your IBM i at that proxy system that would be internal.

It's a bandaid, but unless you want to change a lot of code, that's your
best bet. But also another link in the chain.

Yesterday, I mentioned Amazon Simple Email Service.

Does anybody here know any more than I do about this?

They seem to have two interfaces: an SMTP interface, that requires TLS
and authentication, and a series of web services, which appear to
require a form of authentication that doesn't look very Midrange-friendly.

I don't see anything in CHGSMTPA (on our V7 cloud box) that appears to
have anything to do with connecting to a FWDHUBSVR that requires TLS and
authentication.
