Another thing about ESEND.
It has its own subsystem, EFWD, that is started by QSTRUP. You can set up
as many output queues as you want (we have only one, cleverly named EMAIL)
that ESEND monitors. When a spool file shows up it is handled by a forward
rule that can include spool file name, job name, user profile, form type,
user data, or any combination thereof, and execute an ESNDMAIL or EDISTRIB
command or other "ruleset" defined within ESEND. ESEND really is a fine
app. Its limitations are the IBM SMTP server.

I'm just saying the IBM SMTP server has been a pile of bandaids foryears, and soon will be irrelevant when OAuth becomes the norm
There is always the possibility to insert your own "proper" MTA in
between, like Postfix and colleagues which are still maintained. Of
this often needs learning and is another indirection. The answer isRFC1925
statement 7. Universally applicable outside of its initial scope. :-)<vendor>
And there are also very robust and "native" IBM i solutions available
the community to eliminate that. :)proxy,
</vendor>
But, in this case, the problem is having to rewrite hundreds of programs
using a command that uses an outdated process. Which is why I offered to
look into solutions like a new processing program for ESEND, an MTA,
etc. I totally understand a hole too deep to fill back up. I've doneit
myself. :)related
