There is always the possibility to insert your own "proper" MTA in
between, like Postfix and colleagues which are still maintained. Of course

But, in this case, the problem is having to rewrite hundreds of programs
using a command that uses an outdated process. Which is why I offered to
look into solutions like a new processing program for ESEND, an MTA, proxy,
etc. I totally understand a hole too deep to fill back up. I've done it
myself. :)
