True that, JHH, and not only that, IBM i *does* have a GUI though people
forget it is there.

X Windowing System applications do indeed run from PASE.

ssh -X yourid@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and /QOpenSys/usr/bin/X11/xterm and if
you are on Linux or running an X server on Mac or Windows, an xterm will
pop up.
My open source Ublu <https://github.com/jwoehr/ublu> language for IBM i
(native or remote) also has a -w switch to run in windowing mode.
