Something discussed during the student meet and greet the other day.  The questions was posed to students what would attract you to choose one company over another?   Some of the responses included:  pay, good work environment, nice people to work with, interesting business, ability to work remotely at least some of the time/even better all of the time,  support, investment in and encourage education, participation in COMMON and other community activities.
Thought this to be interesting and is worthwhile to share.

When I was at Fortra, they brought on a couple of interns just out of
school.
They had a little bit of IBM i exposure at their school I believe.
They turned out to be phenomenal.

There is a lot of competition and dog eat dog on the other platforms, for
entry level talent...
I'd think anyone serious about making a career out of software engineering
would find an opportunity on the IBM i appealing, as long as it was
presented to them the correct way.

Shops should really look at interns, in-house schooling and shadowing, if
they plan on staying with the system.
