Hello Justin,

The issue is that IBMi can't send email to external addresses, but internal addresses
work fine.

Yes. That's what I'd expect. I guess SMTP from the internal net to the internet isn't allowed in general and you're supposed to use an internal relay server for that purpose.

External emails get bounced back saying "RETRIES EXHAUSTED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CONNECT TO REMOTE HOST domain_name_no_extenstion."

Yes. Because firewall blocks direct connections to the outside world.

1. Are there SMTP logs on IBMi?

Yes and no. It's MSF journal entries, not too much helpful, IMO. DSPJRN JRN(QZMF)

I've also found this, maybe it helps you to adjust your settings to get more helpful information?

Also, please see the Thread about "relaying via Google fails" in the archive started by James Lampert. I've deleted the mails in my local folder already. Maybe debugging hints given there help you, also.

2. Is TRCCNN the best way to do a network trace? That command allows
export to Wireshark format, correct?

Dunno, sorry.
