It seems to me you never explained why those jobs are a problem? Is there a performance impact, or other issue related to them, or is it you are just not used to seeing lots of related jobs?

I’d think long and hard before removing a single PTF from Java.

If that is really a concern, then I’d consider loading the Java products from the ESS (slip installation) and applying the Java group that was on the box before. I’d be willing to bet that will avoid a whole bunch of land mines you’ll all most certainly step on by removing just one or two. Even then, there’s a reason you get HIPER and Java groups each time you get a Cumulative group, they are tied all together.

I’d only remove a single PTF after receiving that advice from a level two IBM support resource.

QSRVMON is the service monitor job. Google it for more information.
Hmm, we also have a user profile called EDIONR. Been a few decades since EDI was my job here and I know the package we use has changed names repeatedly. However ours doesn't have a jvm job running at this exact moment.
Google shows me that JSCOM3C belongs to DB2 WebQuery.

Thanks.

The burning question is whether it's necessary to get rid of the jobs *before* pulling the PTFs, or simply to restart them after.

Backing out PTFs is not something I can recall ever having to do.
