I used to have one of those magic programs as well.....

It's been years and I'm not familiar with the latest hardware but didn't there used to be some magic incantation with the buttons on the SRC display that you could use to reset the password? I vaguely recall doing that when I inherited a system after they laid off the admin.

It's a little late for the OP, but in my bag of tricks, I used to have a program named QSE. It was created by the QSECOFR user profile and adopted QSECOFR authority.

If I ever got into a "sticky situation", I just typed CALL QSE on a command line, and magically, I could proceed unimpeded. In all those years, the name of that program never caught the attention of a single auditor. 😊

Hello Roberto,

As long as you create a QSECOFR-like user BEFORE restoring the user profiles, you can keep access to the machine even if you don't know both QSECOFR passwords.

This brings up a thought: Assuming he's only doing a LIC and base OS install, wouldn't the user profiles be retained on the existing ASP? So, after the LIC and base library install, in course of the manual IPL, he *will* be asked for the QSECOFR password to continue IPL.

It's worse than I thought.
