It's ALIVE! (cue the Young Frankenstein reference...)
Many, many thanks for the help. The three tidbits of info that got me
back on track were:
1) The reference to setting the alternate restart device in the LPAR
profile.
2) The side comment about using the actual profile name rather than
"Current configuration" when activating the LPAR.
3) Rob's notation about using the front USB port (I saw references to
that and had used the DVD on that port, but there were other issues that
prevented it from being found). Rob's post confirmed that it should be
the only port used.
I IPL'd from DVD and I did a SLIP install of the H resave. So now I am
IPL'd to the A side. So, do I just re-apply the cume and groups that I
have in the image catalog? I think so but I want to make sure there are
no additional steps to perform before proceeding.
