Two different problems then. First to get 5250 to use port 992 (SSL) then
you must configure the system (or other) certificate to support the telnet
server.
See:
https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/configuring-ssl-telnet-and-host-servers-se
rver-authentication-first-time
Second problem is you must configure LAN console. That was in the links I
sent before. It's not hard, but you must do the steps as IBM has laid them
out, else not connection......

Look in the AcsConfig.properties file.
This just gets weirder.
It took me quite a while to find an "AcsConfig.properties" other than the
"blank template" one in my downloads directory.
Finally, doing a "find" from a command line turned one up in
/usr/local/ibmiaccess, which did indeed have a component exclusion at the
end.
Commenting this out brought up the full sidebar. But while "5250 Emulator"
does indeed work (but *not* if I select "Use SSL in the connectino panel),
"5250 Console" gives the same error as Virtual Control Panel.
