IBM i is the only OS where you can start and stop parity protection without
any care about the overlying OS. You have 4 disks (and enough free space)?
you can start RAID. You have RAID and you want more space or want to
replace disks? You can stop RAID. The controllers and the LIC will move the
data around however it needs to be and create or delete parity as needed.
Commands that run at the LIC or OS layer, like a system install or library
restore, won't care about the type, qty or RAID status of the underlying
ASP.
I usually try to install LIC, Start RAID and then restore OS/LICPGM/DATA.
If you wait until the machine is restored, you run the risk of the ASP
dying if a disk dies while starting the RAID.

First install LIC, then create the RAID, add units to ASP, then restore
OS and the rest.

The other way is also working. Bt,dt.
