The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

Ideally I like having a new VTL at site A which is compatible with site B. Have them both hooked up to the same lpar at site A. Site A does a DUPMEDBRM from one VTL to the other. Then the new VTL at site A replicates the tape automatically to site B. Not only does this get your tapes over to site B but it provides an offsite backup to your media. Saves at site B would also automatically replicate to site A also. Works fine.
Benefit being you do not lose your retention dates you would lose by restoring and resaving. You would also not lose the disk space, I/O's etc this would cause by restoring and resaving. The data transferred between sites would be significantly smaller due to the dedup of the VTL versus whatever compression you used using SAVRST to transmit between site A and B.
