As to the separators - you know this, I'm sure - there are basically 2 - one is used if you want the process to fail after a function, the other says ignore the error - I forget which is which.

One can build rather complex scripts which look like a (very long) one-liner with the aid of curly braces. But then, it's almost certainly more readable to write stuff into a text file and make it executable. :-)
