This CAN be done with CL - use the QSH CMD('.....') command and put the shell command in apostrophes - watch out for quotes and all that stuff.

If there is additional code needed, sometimes it can be made to work using the continuation characters between subsequent QSH functions.

Yes, I can. Answer: Because I'm very experienced in using UNIX shells and a lot less experienced in available commands in CL.

My way to quickly help Duane out was to tinker something together which just works with a reasonable amount of "code".

After reviewing the other comments, it seems that using the proposed REN command has restrictions which need additional code to work around.
