Not much to be done. Backplane issues tend to be that dramatic. It would
seem that it first started having PCI-e switch troubles (maybe from
whatever power issue the backplane had) and then it failed the entire
board. Without being able to look at the product activity log or the ASMI
log I cannot be certain if there were previous errors that might have clued
you up to that problem.
I did have some Power5 boards die slowly (first a couple of PCIx slots,
then finally the entire board).
