LDA has had two diffrent usecases:
- giving and/or receiving parms between two programms
- storing some job related global context
For the first you could simply use parms.
For the second I'm writing a SRVPGM JOBCONTEXT (ACTGRP(NORECLAIM)). This
SRVPGM exports get (and set procedures if needed) for every needed global
property. Initialisation would be done by some external store (could be
database or a property file in IFS.
The get procedures could look like getMandant(), getLastFriday(),
getSomethingElse() or more generic getProperty(keyName)
If you prefer java style, you would find an example at my (german) Freeware
