I've mostly used UIM only for help text for commands - that's a really simple process, generally.

UIM help panels are also easily used in UIM display panels.

I do see that there is a HLPPNLGRP keyword for DDS - I've never used it, I'd hope that it, along with some of the other several HLP* keywords, would make it unnecessary to use APIs - unless one wants some specialized behavior. I vaguely remember using some APIs when writing a display panel group - like maybe generating the list contents when the content is varying from call to call.

Good stuff - I always wished there were a UDA function - any votes for an RFE to add that in RDi?  :)

Cheers
Vern

It might need APIs for some stuff, for
help screens, not hardly at all, usually.

Whether you need APIs for UIM help screens, or not, depends upon
if they are referenced directly from commands, menus, or display files or
you need to get fancy and reference then directly from your user-written
programs. I am of the understanding that if you want to provide
context-sensitive help for your own DDS-based display files then you have
to use API's from the program behind the display file. Otherwise, UIM
menus and list panels provide support for context-sensitive help panels
without requiring the use of APIs at all.
