Is a UIM menu different than a menu generated with STRSDA? Maybe that is
where I missed the question. I've not heard of UIM so I assumed it was a
normal menu.

I might be missing the question here but ...
The menu screen is just like any other screen. You can put stuff
wherever
you want and move menu option numbers wherever you want.
Did I miss understand your question?
May have just missed the point... The following shows the menu
lines from the CMDJOBD menu. Notice two of those lines have no selection
number in front of them -- meaning, they are not actually menu selections
but simply text that separates the groups of selections. I think I may
already have the answer to my question, though. I have MENUGRP keywords in
one of my UIM menus but there is no text added to those keywords. I will
experiment with adding text and see of that fulfills my need.
