PTFs perm is a good idea, however not absolutely required. if possible I
would perm apply, but sometimes you just cant get the downtime to do it.

If there was something wrong with the save, sure then these types of errors
pop up. I'm guessing strongly that the support line would simply ask you
to SLIP install the offended products then apply PTFs again.

Also I would not hurt to do a CHKPRDOPT on your current system to see if
all you did was forklift over the problem.

Jim,

This was only a migration test.
I'm wondering if possibly the system save was not 100% complete (missing
some IFS system objects)
This would cause the restore/migration to fail.

Do PTFs need to be perm applied for a successful migration.

I vaguely remember similar issues back in 2012 with my P5 to P7 migration.

Sounds like you have a SLIP install in the very near future to do. Since
the media you used was not reliable, I'd use IBM downloads, (new ones if
possible) and perform the SLIP. The PTF things.

I'm thinking the root cause, not all objects were restored/installed

This is a V7R3 test migration.

Received this following an IPL of a restored test LPAR.
Not finding anything for root cause.
Nothing in PAL, LIC logs.

Any thoughts from the group.
