Jim,

This was only a migration test.
I'm wondering if possibly the system save was not 100% complete (missing some IFS system objects)
This would cause the restore/migration to fail.

Do PTFs need to be perm applied for a  successful migration.

I vaguely remember similar issues back in 2012 with my P5 to P7 migration.

Sounds like you have a SLIP install in the very near future to do.  Since
the media you used was not reliable, I'd use IBM downloads, (new ones if
possible) and perform the SLIP.  The PTF things.
