I've found it quicker and easier to recreate storage spaces rather than
re-format the drives during an install/reload of a guest partition.

I also had an experience where a guest partition being reloaded killed the
disk response on the host when it was initialising the disk. CRTNWSSTG
seems to run at a much lower priority plus it runs on the hosted system so
easier to schedule for a convenient time.

IF you are re-using an NWSSTG object that was previously used then it
WILL re-format during the install. On 10K Drives and 600GB (VERY big
IMHO) I would expect this to take SEVERAL hours, 6 to 10 even.
