The 21A has the following restrictions which the 41A does not:

Limited to 1 Processor
No VIOS
No PowerVM
P05 software tier
Max 25 users
Max of 8 disk drives

Subject: Server comparison

We're in the market for a new IBM Power system, either hosted or on-prem. I have two companies giving me quotes for on-prem:

Quote #1 is for an 8284-21A 1-core, 16GB ram, with 849 usable DASD.

Quote #2 is for an 8286-41A 1-core, 16GB ram, with 849 usable DASD.

Each vendor says the machine in their quote has 9360 CPW.

With all the specs being identical, what's the difference between the 8284-21A and the 8286-41A?

Thanks
