the S812 es the ULTRA MEGA SUPER DUPER SMALL machine. max 25 users IIRC.
Other than that no difference in CPW. both machines have a very strict RAM
and DISK limits. And AFAIK there is no S912 ibm i machine yet.

Why buy a power 8 with power 9’s on the market?

We're in the market for a new IBM Power system, either hosted or
on-prem. I have two companies giving me quotes for on-prem:

Quote #1 is for an 8284-21A 1-core, 16GB ram, with 849 usable DASD.

Quote #2 is for an 8286-41A 1-core, 16GB ram, with 849 usable DASD.

Each vendor says the machine in their quote has 9360 CPW.

With all the specs being identical, what's the difference between the
8284-21A and the 8286-41A?

Thanks
