Is there a native IBMi command that will do the watching/monitoring ?

Create a monitor to check if the writer job(s) are not running, then have
the monitor do the STRPRTWTR.
I'm doing this with our HALCYON L2 monitor.

<<Moving the service desk to India sure has saved this company a lot of
money.>>
I see tickets coming from the IT "Support Center" all the time related to
printer issues. I see the time stamps on the chats between India and the
US based users. 9 times out of 10, the chats last just a little longer
than 30 minutes. This is because the ITSC contractor bills in 30 minute
increments.
If an issue runs 31 minutes, the contractor gets to invoice for an hour.
99 times out of 100, STRPRTWTR PRINTER resolves the user's problem.

This is amazing. I just received an email from our service desk that they
are SENDING ME A NEW LAPTOP to resolve the drive mapping issue. I had not
yet let them know that I had resolved the issue because I wanted to see
how long it would take for them respond with a useful resolution.
Moving the service desk to India sure has saved this company a lot of
money. </s>
