The Priority Support reps are the "funnels" to the level 2 and 3 folks and
even the developers.

She chewed him out because he thought she wasn't getting him an answer fast
enough. He tried to lord it over her and tell her that his 18 years with IBM
Global Support entitled him to better treatment. Her response was that "the
mutts at Global Support are the reason so many customers have abandoned the
iSeries platform". Good thing I was on this conference call from my office
at home. I hit the mute button and laughed my butt off.

Normally, IBM support folks are extremely patient!

I have the bad habit of not calling IBM because I like solving problems
myself. Fortunately, more recently, I've -had- to call IBM first because
there's usually too much going on to do my own troubleshooting. ):

The "Digital Manager" responsible for the IBM i equipment thinks calling IBM
is beneath him, ever since he got chewed out by the woman assigned as the
Priority Support representative.

Shortly thereafter, he dropped that part of the support agreement.

He get nervous when I mention that I'm writing a book about my career, and
there's a whole chapter about him and his employer.
