Since we had no web service running on the newer box I was trying to avoid building a web service just for this. However, it looks like the way I will be going.
I was hoping to find other solutions that I could accomplish in pure RPGLE.
The Open Source Package WEBSRVUTL from Rainer Ross make it very easy to write and consume webservices with pure RPG (and may be some SQL)

I have seen that. Since we had no web service running on the newer box I was trying to avoid building a web service just for this. However, it looks like the way I will be going. I was hoping to find other solutions that I could accomplish in pure RPGLE. The run remote command is also a possibility. But I think the reverse proxy may be more flexible as we may have to modify other programs if we do not get upgraded soon.

Hi, Chris,
Now that you have spelled out _what_ problem you are trying to solve, rather than asking _how_ to accomplish a particular method to resolve the perceived problem, (e.g. a "remote procedure call" of some sort), ... I think there may be a better and/or simpler way. See:
