What local user group? There used to be one in the Kansas City area, but
it's been defunct for years. There is only one other JDE World customer in
our area that I know of, and they are a large international corp.

That's unfortunate.

I can't imagine any customers wanting to share the same partition. We
wouldn't want to host our data on a shared partition even if the
authorities were set correctly.

We host a student information system for public and private schools,
including thousands of parents and students on a single IBM i server. All
access is over a web portal. All other servers (Telnet, FTP, Database,
etc.) are blocked. We don't provide IBM i credentials to users.

It works well in our case. But I understand that legacy IBM i applications
can't be restricted to HTTP interfaces - that would require a significant
migration effort.

And I'm not sure Oracle would be pleased about a single license being
shared across multiple entities.

You also indicated that Oracle's license transfer fees were a problem.
Someone should come up with an economical IBM i-based migration path for
JDE World databases.
