Well, I'll try, but when I see "benefits" quoted like that I get the
impression that you're less interested in hearing than arguing.
Message Labs also checks our email going outbound to ensure that we do not
send out a virus. Yes, you can put a virus into an IFS file and, yes, you
can email that attachment. This way ensures that doesn't happen.
A further comment I have may be interpreted as FUD but I seem to remember
some destinations not accepting email from you if your email originated
from some 10.* address, NATted address, or some such thing.

It pains me that the IBM i needs Windows in order to send email. That's
what sticks in my craw. I want the IBM i to not need another server to
send email.
In regard to sending email from IBM i (applications, command line, etc.),
a
separate relay service (Windows, Google, Message Labs, whatever) is not
required. Perhaps others can explain the "benefits", if any.
