It pains me that the IBM i needs Windows in order to send email. That's
what sticks in my craw. I want the IBM i to not need another server to
send email.

I'm not an Esend expert since that's another department, but if you are
relaying emails with Esend already there's really nothing you need to do to
change.

You're getting it out of the 400 to a proper mail relay as fast as humanly
possible. Good !!

I can't speak for Brads stuff or other HS stuff, but some of the RJS
components already support secure email relaying as does the AutoMate
product which I work with quite a bit which is like CL programming for
Windows. AutoMate supports secure SMTP as well as relaying using the
standard outlook web access APIs.

AutoMate can also pick up and send the same documents created by SEQUEL
and also does about 599 other things so there's value if you're looking to
enhance your email processes.

Brad's supposition is that Microsoft is removing SMTP relaying. My
supposition is Not :-)

Since SMTP has, let's see.....ALL the email traffic in the world I don't
think it's going anywhere any time soon so you're fine with Esend as is.
Make sure to get a vote in to the SEQUEL support team if you want true SMTP
relaying or let me know if you want to take a look at any of our other
items.

Happy to do a technical demo any time.

IBM i announced)

Richard,

Let me ask you a question. We use ESEND (ever heard of it? :) ) to send
loads of email reports to employees and customers. It uses the IBM i SMTP
server to email. We have to use an email relay service installed on a
Windows server in order to do this.

If we were to hire Brad, would he be able to do something on the IBM i so
that this Windows relay is not needed? And would ESEND still work? Or is
it totally dependant on the IBM i SMTP service?

Shhhhh :-)

Actually I don't think it's really an issue.

Anything like MSF that may still require port 25 can use an internal IIS
relay or other relay that uses TLS to forward messages.

It also looks like O365 connectors can still be configured to allow port
25 and secure relaying.

It's probably cool technically that Brad hooked up to O365 proprietary
APIs, but I don't think SMTP relaying is going away anytime soon for O365
users from what I can see.

Just have to point them to the right set up for O365 unless Brad has some
hard evidence.

I couldn't find it :-)
