Almost.

Midrange only does email;
Gmane does email with Midrange;
Gmane does NNTP with TBird.

Thus, David's note:

Gmane.org should *NOT* send any mail to you. It's a READ ONLY
resource.

Messages posted to the gmane.org news server will be sent to
midrange.com's mail server with your email address and processed as
usual.
