Version 5.9? Well, I am running 7.1 of IBM i Access for Windows on my PC
with Service Pack SI44594. When I do a Help, About in 5250 land I am
seeing 6.0. IDK if upgrading to that would help. (See: Start, Programs,
IBM i Access for Windows, IBM i Access for Windows Properties.)

I just followed your steps and the first workstation it created was
GDSL61J. I wondered about starting with J (although there are days when I
think starting my day out that way would be nice) so I did a WRKDEVD
GDSL61* and the only one was GDSL61J. I shut that down with the X and
told it not to save it. I used another session to check on it
Description Status
QVIRCD0001 ACTIVE
GDSL61J VARY ON PENDING

I then created a new session only specifying use this computer name and
avoid duplicate names on this workstation. Once again it used GDSL61J and
brought me right back to the sign on screen.

If trying a new level of iSeries access doesn't work then how's about
upgrading your OS to 7.1 and see if that helps?

Could also be that I would check to see if their
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IBM\Client
Access\Emulator\private
folder has some conflicts. Although mine had none beginning with GDSL61.
And there's nothing whatsoever in
C:\Documents and Settings\ROB\Application Data\IBM\Client Access

Josh is spinning me up a new laptop with Windows 7 on it.
