If you are able to consider a commercial solution, we have a forms package that'd work will with the strategy James presents. That way you also eliminate pre-printed forms completely, you only need to have blank paper. Again, much less expensive than pre-print.

If interested, call us at 888.RJS.SOFT toll-free and ask for more information. I wouldn't be much help, as I don't develop it. Or check our new-look site at www.rjssoftware.com

I want to retire an old Epson DFX-8000 that is twinax attached.

I want to replace it with a networked printer that will print 4-part forms.

We've replaced multipart forms with precollated coloured paper,
postscript, and a decent laser printer. We print each page multiple
times, once for each colour paper loaded. The coloured paper is far
cheaper than the multipart forms were and the print quality is far
superior.

if you want to understand why that is, there are many good books on
the design of operating systems. please pass them along to redmond
when you're done reading them :)
