I don't mind HTML emails at all. Actually, I prefer them if they aren't
overdone or rather are done right (i.e. don't make me scroll left/right to
view the whole email).

BTW, from a vendors point of view (ov which I am) I think the HTML emails
are a necessity because we want readers to see our logo and you can't do
that real well in a text email. I would have to imagine the vendors
advertising money is what funds the newsletters, so no advertising no
newsletter...

No, it doesn't. I love fancy-text e-mail. I do share you annoyance with
no-content, link-only newsletters, though.
