I prefer HTML emails.
Not because I can see a vendor's logo (?!) but because it's generally more
interesting visually than plain text and it's usually better organized and
therefore easier to read.

I don't WANT the clutter of HTML e-mail in my in-basket. I WANT plain
text e-mail.
It was bad enough when the newsletter stopped including the actual
information and required me to visit a web-page to read it if I was
interested. All this will do is drive me to unsubscribe completely.
I'll bet this is driven by concern for advertisers instead of concern
for subscribers (much like commercial television which I rarely watch
BECAUSE the ads are disruptive.
It's not as if there is a cost to supplying a plain-text alternative.
I'll bet it's automatically generated from the HTML version.
