If you are using SQL for database access (whether it is embedded in
RPG or COBOL, ODBC, JDBC, access via PHP, etc), I would STRONGLY
recommend having someone keep an eye on the index recommendations.
I'd also have someone take a look at SQL Plan Cache Snapshots to check
on query performance. We were having enough problems with SQL
performance and general system performance that some of our higher ups
were talking about stopping the use of SQL. We spent a few hours each
day for about a month or so with the really great tools in iNav and
were able to find several desperately needed indexes, a few queries
that needed to be rewritten, and one very bizarre situation with
dynamic SQL in an RPG program that caused a program object to be
locked every time it was run (updating the access plan caused the
lock).

Problems were solved, SQL was saved. It was so successful that we
were able to lobby to train one of our sysadmins to use the iNav
database management tools and have him check up on recommended indexes
and slow running queries each day as a part of his job duties.

There are still some database functions you will need to perform:
Reorganizing files to physically remove records deleted by a user
