Actually, if I were Facebook, I'd have someone like Akamai handling
all my static content. That's one of those good problems to have.

Yes, I admit that it would be more practical and cost effective to replicate static content like photos and videos across a farm of Intel file servers for mass distribution. But what about user profile data and the little notes that people exchange with one another? I'd still host and serve that under IBM i. Yes, one would need to replicate that data across a number of horizontal servers, but it would be easier to manage, secure, scale vertically, and serve under IBM i; a native application would be easier to deploy and more reliable under the IBM i native virtual machine.

Application deployment and configuration would be a consideration for me. Again, just copy the program objects to a library and let native task dispatching balance workloads across 64 internal CPUs. Performance, using native record level access methods, would be better. When a new user profile or note is added to the database, use journaling to replicate it across your farm of IBM i servers; there would be fewer servers to manage, and they'd be more reliable.
