V5R4 still has LOTS of places where the "OS/400" can be encountered.

And there's still "iSeries Access".

I especially like explaining this stuff to customers.

"No, starting from V5R3, the OS is called i5/OS"
"Yes, i know that the MAIN menu says OS/400"
"No, the family is called System i"
"Yes, i know that iSeries Access still has an iSeries in it's name, even
though it works with i5 systems"

Etc. I don't have a problem with the "System i" name, but it sucks a lot
that IBM didn't go all the way and make sure that you won't find the
string "OS/400" in V5R4 anywhere, at any place.

Oh, and by the way, iSeries Access still installs to
%ProgramFiles%\IBM\Client Access\. And the default password for the ssl
keychain is still "ca400".

Beats me.

The name of the operating system has been "OS/400" from 1989 until 2003
(V1R1 through V5R2). With V5R3, the name was changed to "i5/OS" and even

V5R3 internally still says "OS/400" ... (this was "fixed" in V5R4).

Why not simply refer to the "platform" as "i5/OS" or "OS/400" ... and
all of this "naming" confusion goes away...?

That's my opinion,
