However, IBM is a little slow (sometimes) updating whatever it is they update to prevent this. So, as long as Fix Central allows you to download, go for it. However, one day they (IBM) will get your record updated and, when you try to download the PTF all that will happen is - nothing. No message, no bill, nada.
This is the scenario that I went through, anyway. I had to call Support to see why Fix Central wasn't working. Boy, was I embarrassed when the nice lady told me "You're not on software support for that serial number."

Am I still eligible for ptf's on my V5R3 even though I no longer havesoftware maintenance (I do have the Hardware contract)?-----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Chris Bipes Sent: Thursday, November 02, 2006 8:55 AM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: RE: V5R3M5 - Oh how to get there! No need for it but YES the PTF ordering is a pain. Check out the latest TCP group level 9 that came out on the 30th, all changes are for M5. We order all the latest groups once a month before we do our Monthly complete system backup / IPL to apply. Thank you IBM, can I have another? As Al alluded to, slipping the SLIC. I wouldn't think it to be necessary unless there's some feature you require. The PTF ordering screen does get annoying though, doesn't it? -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
