So, RPG and COBOL aren't 'native either?Note that many Qshell utilities are in fact "native" programs and can be called by other "native" programs such as CLPs. (However, the 'shell' environment and processing can have significant effects on results; but the CL compiler also has significant effects on what CL commands can do and which can be executed -- try CHGVAR at a commandline. And the REXX environment...?) Many Qshell utilities are implemented as symbolic links to programs in the QSYS.LIB file system.
Qshell is an installable option of OS/400. So are the host servers, ObjectConnect and others. IMO, there is no reason to think of Qshell any differently than thinking of *PRV CL Compiler Support.
