No, earlier this week I posted the System p5 TPC benchmark announcement ( http://biz.yahoo.com/iw/060725/0147104.html ) and the first comment was "but that's not an iSeries" and it went downhill from there. What I would like to accomplish is to change attitudes from "can't do" to "can do." When I read the announcement that a p5 had broken TCP benchmarks my first thought was "Great, that'll be on an i5 in less than 6 months!" But what I heard here was: (yawn) How can we support our system with people who don't drink the kool-aid when we don't even truly support it ourselves? At the briefing I was at yesterday the biggest news was the the new version of WebSphere Whatever for iSeries had GA'd on the same day as the version for all of the other platforms. I get discouraged about the state of the iSeries community when it's all doom and gloom, and IBM doesn't care about us, etc.
It is not our fault. The system i5 is underpowered and overpriced. IBM is on track to be the next General Motors. An oversized company that is not an industry leader is a recipe for disaster. -Steve
