The unemployment rate may be the same, but a job flipping burgers is not the same as programming. Yes they are both jobs and are 1 to1 in terms of the effect on the rate of unemployment (ie. no change in the unemployment rate). But the input to the economy, here and abroad, is very dependent on the salary paid by both jobs. Which job enables more input into the local, national and global economy?
