Charles -

Yes, you need to IPL (restart = *YES) to install the CUME and wait for
the INZSYS to complete. Then load and delay apply the Group PTFs and
you'll need another IPL, restart = *yes to complete the install.

BTW, this is how I have always done this when doing an O/S upgrade. Not
installing/IPLing the CUME first during an O/S upgrade has gotten me in
trouble. On the other hand, if you are just doing a CUME and Group PTFs
on the existing O/S level, then doing the Groups, then the CUME would
work fine.

Good Luck,
Glenn

Subject: V5r4 Upgrade, IPL required between Cume and Group PTF installs

All,

Normally, when installing cume and group PTFs, I install the group PTFs
first followed by the cume PTFs.

However, the v5r4 upgrade instructions seem to be pretty clear to
install the cume PTFs prior to installing group PTFs.

My question is, do you need to do the automatic IPL for the cume PTFs to
be applied (and wait for INZSYS to complete) before installing the group
PTFs?

I don't remember how I did the v5r3 upgrade <grin>

Thanks,

Charles Wilt
