For the same reason that you would expect to have performance improve to a save file in a traditional ASP (2-32). The problem is that the IFS only exists in *SYSBAS and in IASPs, so as the image catalogue must reside in the IFS, the only way for it to get a segregated pool of DASD is in an IASP. IMHO, IASPs are a pain in the neck, but Rochester is saying that they are strategic. Use the menu GO FIGURE.
