Just to throw in what happend to me, using IE.

Got a trojan, and NAV informed me, but couldn't do a delete/repair.

Searched Google and someone out there said 'try flushing' the cache.
Did so and took another round with NAV. Everything went normal.

Sorry.... dont have any documentation :-)
