In the new box: 4gig of Ram 27 - 35gig disk units - 15k rpm 2780 controller RAID5 >>> John.Jones@xxxxxxxxxx 7/20/05 11:58 AM >>> Huge? :) Well, actually it depends: - Does the new box have the appropriate amount of RAM? You're tripling the theoretical max CPWs but max throughput cannot be achieved without sufficient RAM. - Is the number of disk arms sufficient? It can be less than your old box, as Rob has commented on in the past, but too few can still create a choke-point. - 10K or 15K disks? - 2780 or other disk controller? Mirroring or RAID5? We are looking to make the same jump - 820-1523 (370cpw) to 520-7459 (1000cpw). What kind of performance improvement should we expect, especially in batch, if all else stays the same? We would be going to new dasd as well. Dave
