The key benefit is operational. You can back up the storage spaces from the iSeries with your normal backup, and they are easily restored. In most environments, PC servers need to be rebuilt. The downside is BCRS. BCRS doesn't want a lot of money to give you the iSeries redundancy, because they have many customers that will share that same box, they likely won't have many that will want to use the xSeries, so they will stick it to you there. Has anyone out there prepared an ROI analysis on this subject that they might be willing to share? Also, has anyone actually planned and implemented a server consolidation using IBM iSeries and xSeries?
